NSW Nationals MP Wes Fang says Premier Chris Minns has made an “extraordinary admission” that landholders could be left financially responsible if renewable energy projects fail or reach end of life. Speaking on 2GB, Fang warned that many rural landholders may face potential clean-up costs running into the millions — or even billions — despite projects receiving significant government funding. He claims farmers, some of whom signed agreements years ago without fully understanding the long-term implications, are now discovering they could be liable if companies walk away.
