Shayna Jack has revealed she is a “bi-coastal athlete” splitting her time between Brisbane and Perth to spend more time with her fiance Joel Rintala.
Speaking exclusively to Scoop, the Olympic swimmer confirmed she is now based part-time in Perth, where Rintala trains with the Australian hockey team.
Jack said it comes after the couple spent two years doing long distance romance and her coach Dean Boxall has given his tick of approval.
“We did… 2 years with minimal quality time due to our commitment to our respective sports,” she said.
“Dean and I thought it would be best to take this time after the Olympics to really spend some quality time with Joel and also support him on his endeavours.
“The squad is currently playing friendlies with India and will then select their Oceania team to compete in Darwin from the 4th – 7th of September. In which I will go and support if Joel is selected for that tour.”
Jack said she was still training full time but was ensuring she prioritised enjoying what she loved, which included her fiance, time with my family and friends and fashion.
“I have an incredible team both at QAS & WAIS who are really committed to helping me get the best out of my career while also ensuring I do what’s best for my personal life as well,” she said.
“I couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds in and out of the pool. Commonwealth Games next year and then a wedding, what more could you ask for.
“A happy swimmer is a fast swimmer.”
Jack confirmed the exciting news after Hancock Agriculture and S. Kidman & Co chief executive Adam Giles dropped the bombshell that she had “moved to Perth” during a hot ticket event this week.
Olympians and fashion insiders gathered in the foyer of a Hancock Prospecting-owned Eagle Street riverfront building for a celebration of two of Australia’s most iconic brands, Driza-Bone and S. Kidman & Co.
Among the notable names spotted in the crowd were Senator Pauline Hanson, former Queensland premier Campbell Newman, Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner, Olympian Brendon Smith and Jack.

The centrepiece of the evening was a student design competition to reimagine the century-old Driza-Bone coat for today’s modern traveller.
Queensland’s top fashion colleges took part, with their best students presenting creations made from heritage fabrics salvaged from the company’s archives.
The judging panel included the high-profile guests, along with Hancock Agriculture and S. Kidman & Co chief executive Adam Giles.
While Rinehart could not attend in person, her presence was felt in every aspect of the event. From the pristine white Driza-Bone coats worn by Giles and Jack to the focus on reinventing an Australian classic, the evening reflected her vision to merge tradition with modern style.
Giles also used his address to announce that by November a brick-and-mortar S. Kidman store will open on Eagle Street, making it only the second in the country. Guests were also able to browse an on-site S. Kidman pop-up shop.
Designs on show were judged on innovation, marketability and international appeal, with winners to be revealed at this year’s Brisbane Fashion Festival.
Only after the judging was complete did guests turn their attention to the food, with champagne flowing alongside gourmet pies and sausage rolls, a nod to the all-Aussie theme of the evening.
